THE FOLD: Doing Laundry and Life Together

What started as a simple idea to meet a practical need has become a powerful expression of God’s love in action. Since 2022, The Fold has been faithfully serving their community—offering free laundry services and lunch to people I their community in Central Point, Oregon.

It all began when Missy Getsinger felt a stirring from God to connect with her neighbors in a tangible way. Instead of waiting for people to come to church, she and her team decided to bring the church to them—right where they were, in laundromats. There, over the hum of washing machines and the sharing of meals, relationships began to form, stories were exchanged, and hearts were opened.

This unique ministry has become a fresh expression of church—a place where people do life together while experiencing the grace and presence of Jesus in everyday moments. Beyond laundry days, The Fold now also hosts Outdoor Church a couple of times a month, gathering under open skies for worship, prayer, and fellowship.

Now, The Fold is stepping into an exciting new chapter. They are in the process of purchasing the laundromat where this ministry first took root—an opportunity to deepen their roots and ensure long-term sustainability. Over the past 3 1/2 years, they've washed 7,042 loads of laundry and met incredible people along the way.  Their fundraising efforts to purchase the laundromat have just begun, and they’re inviting partners like you to help make this vision a reality.

In just a few short years, Missy and her team have reached countless individuals and families—showing what it truly means to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Their work reminds us that church isn’t confined to four walls. It’s wherever God’s people love and serve in His name.
